The Meadows Racetrack and Casino Race 9 (Pick 5)
Date: 11/6/2018 Carryover: $0  Guarantee: $7,500

Ticket: 4,8/1,3/2,9/8,9/1 – Cost: $16.00 ($1.00 base)

Yesterday’s Recap – We went four-for-five yesterday in the Pick 5 at Northfield where one of the leading drivers, Ronnie Wrenn Jr. stole one on the front end.  The Pick 5 of 5/5/7/1/1 returned $465.00.

Breakdown:

Race 9: #4 HICKORY SASSYFAST has a strong ability to show speed, the issue with this filly is her ability to pass horses once she is behind.  If she can make the lead she will be tough.  #8 URBAN RESORT drops in class this week for trainer Ted Williams and driver Eric Neal.  She has a little bit of speed, but she can also come from off the pace.  That versatility is something I would not ignore.

Race 10: #1 ROAR HANOVER scored easily last week in dominating fashion and was geared down late by Charlino.  She is a speedy mare and looks like she could be a winner from the rail.  #3 PROMISE BLUE CHIP is another speed girl in the race who is coming off some pretty game efforts.  When she is forwardly placed and can ration out the speed she is normally very tough.

Race 11: #2 MUTINYONTHEBOUNTY made up a ton of ground last week with a backside brush and drew off to win easily.  He isn’t the speediest gelding in the world, but he is one that shows up late.  #9 DRIFT AWAY has won three of his last six starts in come from behind fashion and while being on the lead.  I like that he doesn’t have to be on the lead, but post nine is a small concern of mine.

Race 12: #8 ANA HANOVER got the perfect trip last week and scored an easy win.  She won’t get the trip from post eight tonight, but if she gets into the race early she is very tough.  #9 WHERE’S MY PEBBLE has won two of her last three starts, including a game effort last out where she made a middle move and just missed in the end.

Race 13: #1 POND JUMPER is one of the more consistent horses in the group tonight.  He isn’t the speediest gelding early, but he does have some late closing speed.  The rail draw definitely could play to his favor.
