The Red Mile Race 7 (Pick 4)
Date: 10/7/2018 Carryover: $0 Guarantee: $10,000
Ticket: 3,4,6,11/3,4,5/2/3– Cost: $24.00 ($2.00 base)
Yesterday’s Recap – We went two-for-four in the Pick 4 yesterday as we got clipped by a couple of horses I just could not swing. It was highly competitive and paid extremely well for the bettors that had it. The Pick 4 of 3/5/4/3 returned $1,772.40.
Breakdown:
Race 7: #3 CAPTAIN MCKEE had a tough go of things last week from post nine having a lot of ground to make up. This week he doesn’t nearly that much ground to make up and that should make up the difference. #4 REIGN OF THRONES has two pari-mutuel starts and both of them have been no slouch efforts coming off some strong qualifiers. He draws well this week and if he can be anywhere close to his recent efforts he could be tough to beat. #6 BOMBAY HANOVER gets Zeron back in the bike this week after scoring at big odds last week. He was a bit of a big closer and passed a good amount of horses in the stretch. Definitely worth a look at a price. #11 MOUNTAIN HIGH was all over the place in his last start and still closed to finish a game second. He gets a tough draw this week but could follow one of the inside horses to get into a good position early.
Race 8: #3 COURTLY CHOICE really impressed me in the Jug and he has impressed me ever since Meadowlands Pace night. Trainer Blake Macintosh has put his money where his mouth is and has proven he belongs with this class. Definitely a play here. #4 THINKBIG DREAMBIG has really grown through his three-year-old season into a very good colt. He gets Gingras back in the bike tonight after a strong win in the Bluegrass at Lexington last out. #5 STAY HUNGRY looked very sharp in the Bluegrass last week after a game effort in the Little Brown Jug Elimination. He is a very versatile colt who can go to the top and come from off the pace. Look for him to be around today.
Race 9: #2 CRYSTAL FASHION has been a favorite of mine since Hambletonian time and unfortunately, you’re not going to get the 4/1 odds you did in that elimination. He draws well this week and trainer Jim Campbell has been very strong as of late.
Race 10: #3 MET’S HALL will probably be close to the pace and depending on what Six Pack does he may try to crossover and clear. He draws well and will have something left for the final after scoring in this elimination.
