Stallion Interview: A Rocknroll Dance

This is the second part of a new series, “interviewing” horses from some of the top farms around the country to learn more about their life. A Rocknroll Dance may be new to the farm, but he’s making himself right at home and expecting his first foal in a few weeks. With over $2.4 million in career earnings, the Rocknroll Hanover-Wichita Hanover won the Meadowlands Pace and Canadian Pacing Derby winner set multiple World Records in the US.

We asked him about what sets him apart and the daily routine at Diamond Creek Farm.

Tell us a little about your personality and what sets you apart from the other stallions on the farm.

As the international traveler in the group, I consider myself to be much more sophisticated and have finer tastes then the rest of this bunch. That being said, I tend to be harder to deal with and more picky about how I like things to be done.

Do you have a favorite person on the farm?

My valet, Israel, does a great job of keeping my stall clean and livable and my blankets neat and pressed. He is really the only person I care to deal with regularly.

What’s your daily routine like?

Everyday is different. I could be in the snowstorms of Pennsylvania one minute and then the next be basking on the beaches of New Zealand.  The life of a international man of mystery, never know where it will take you.

What’s your favorite treat or part of the day?

Won’t say no to a nice peppermint (martini).

What are the best qualities that you pass on to your foals?

I hope they inherit my ambitious spirit, early speed, and finesse.

What do you miss most about your racing career?

The luxury of being a winner and the perks that come with it.

What was the highlight of your racing career?

There were many but being the first to pace 3 consecutive miles under 1:48 elevates me above all others (except my new stablemate who had to double up my accomplishment)

What is your favorite thing to do to pass the down time between breeding seasons?

I spend my time away from Pennsylvania romancing foreign ladies in faraway lands.
