The Red Mile Race 6 (Pick 4)
Date: 9/2/2018 Carryover: $0 Guarantee: $5,000
Ticket: 4,8/2/3,9/ALL (10)– Cost: $20.00 ($.50 base)
Yesterday’s Recap – It was a sequence that pretty much stayed to form on Saturday night, but we went three-for-four to wrap up the wager. The race we missed was Race 9 where Juan Franco Steered Fox Valley B Gump from the back of the pack to win easily. The Pick 4 of 5/10/2,6/4 returned $200.70
Race 6: #4 JL JOE was a neck away from winning three straight last week and handled the jump in class very professionally. He has won four of his last six starts and I look for him to have something left in the tank this week. #8 CAMGRANDEST gets a tough draw to the outside this week for trainer Randal Jerrell, but has handled tough posts before. He has won two of his last three starts and his times say he should handle these.
Race 7: #2 BRIGHT FUTURE drew off last week to win decisively after two game efforts. He draws extremely well this week and that should allow him to be closer to the pace.
Race 8: #3 PACIFIC STRIDE is a very strong closer and has proven that he can pass horses, which is a trait I really look for especially in the lower level classes. If he fights on like I think he should, he should have no issues tonight. #9 LIGHTNINGINTHESKY is another very strong closer that can not only pass horses but make up a lot of ground in a hurry. He gets a tough draw for Timmy Jones, but the driver change to McCown could make the difference.
Race 9: Going to use an ALL in the last leg as I believe any one of the horses in this race could win at the bottom level condition. My top selection in the race would be #9 HILLCREST BIGDADDY. He is coming off a couple of tough efforts against $4,000 claimers, look at the start four back where he was coming late and passed a few tired horses in the stretch. If he can even be close to that effort he could show up at big odds.
