The Meadows Racetrack and Casino Race 10 (Pick 5)
Date: 8/21/2018 Carryover: $0  Guarantee: $5,000

Ticket: 7/1,4,7/1,2,6/1,5/2,9 – Cost: $18.00 (.50 cent base)

Yesterday’s Recap – We went two-for-five in a Pick 5 that was kicked off with a short price in Dorsoduro Hanover.  It was a sequence that included many prices and there was a lot of value in it.  The Pick 5 of 5/9/6/9/4 returned $8,368.20.

Breakdown:

Race 10: #7 BELLA GLOS was parked the mile in her last start and she still managed to finish a game fifth only missing by seven lengths.  She returns to a 5/8 mile track where she has had some success before.  I look for improvement this week.

Race 11: #1 WHITE METRO gets a big driver change this week to Tony Hall and some major post improvement after a couple of tough races at Hoosier Park.  She comes to the smaller track for the first time and will need some racing luck.  Time-wise she towers over these and could score at a price.  #4 WESTERN LIBERTY is a mare that is very consistent and she likes to pass horses.  She has a little bit of early speed to work with, but she is more of a closer.  I look for her to be coming off the pace late.  #7 DIME A DANCE looks to drop and pop for trainer Doug Snyder today.  She was a world-record holder at two and has been extremely consistent every year since then.  She is a competitive mare who I look to continue to have success.

Race 12: #1 SPRING CRUISE made a break in her last start and never recovered from it, throw that start out.  She is a horse that has a big closing kick and she has the ability to pass horses down the lane.  Look for her to provide a little bit of value to the Pick 5 from the inside.  #2 BLURRED LINES is a horse that I have fancied over the past couple of weeks.  Two starts back she made a break while on the lead and was placed.  She has a good amount of speed and the inside draw should play to her advantage.  She needs to stay out of trouble.  #6 ASHLEE’S FINE LADY put in a monster mile last week from post seven and just missed at big odds.  If she repeats that effort she will be tough this week.

Race 13: #1 STOWAWAY STEVE moves up in class off a 4 ¼ length win at The Meadows on August 6h.  The time off is the only concern here, but I believe he will be the early pace-setter.  #5 CHARLES VII is one of the more consistent horses in the field and will most likely be the favorite.  He has a good amount of speed and has proven that he has a lot of heart.

Race 14: #2 LIBBY’S IDEA had a rough go of things last week where she was parked the mile and just tired at the end of the mile.  She has proven that she can be competitive with this class and I look for that to continue today.  #9 BIANCA MIDNIGHT has won two straight races and moves up for trainer Clay Faurot Jr.  Driver change to Mike Wilder this week as Merriman will not be there late in the card.  She likes to be close to the pace and if she can get into the race early she has a big chance.
