Celebrating Four Decades Of Racing At Meadowlands

The Meadowlands will celebrate its 40th anniversary during the opening weekend of its fall program on Saturday (Oct. 22).

To kick-off the countdown to the festivities, the legendary New Jersey horse racing facility will post videos of the track’s 40 most memorable races. One video will be released each day leading up to the anniversary celebration. The first video will be posted to the track’s Facebook and Twitter pages on Monday (Sept. 12).

“Few tracks in the sport have been the site of as many historic and memorable races as The Meadowlands,” said Jason Settlemoir, general manager and chief operating officer at the storied oval. “I think our fans will really enjoy celebrating 40 years of history while ramping up their enthusiasm and support for the next 40 years of world-class racing here in New Jersey.”

The track will also run a social media contest beginning Friday (Sept. 30) and ending on Friday (Oct. 14). Fans are invited to post a personal photo of their favorite memory from the past 40 years at the Meadowlands on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #40AndForward. Suggestions include winner’s circle photos, pictures of friends at the races or even a selfie with your favorite horse or driver.

Five winners will be selected to each receive a $100 betting voucher and an invitation, with a guest, to the VIP Anniversary Party on Oct. 22 at Victory Sports Bar.
