Yesterday’s Recap – The card at The Red Mile was canceled yesterday before the Play of the Day wager.

Breakdown:

Race 6: #4 NICOL SHARD N has shown he can compete thus far since coming from New Zealand.  He has a decent amount of speed but is better out of the pocket or after getting the trip.  Expect him to be close to the pace tonight.  #5 AVATAR J has won four of his last six starts and just got there in the final step to win last week.  He gets a decent draw for trainer Andrew Harris, let’s hope consistency is one his side.  #8 ALBERGO HANOVER has been hit or miss since going to the bigger tracks in Pennsylvania.  He gets a very tough draw but has proven before he can make the top from out here.

Race 7: #2 ROCKIN IN THE HILLS has won three of his last six and only missed the board once in those starts.  He was parked to the first quarter at Saratoga last week and still drew off to win easily with Aldrich in the bike.  Look for another big effort off the rail.  #4 SUDDENLY SAM has had a couple of tough trips as of late and just hasn’t been to form.  He took a little time off and should be strong this week.

Race 8: #1 GHOST PINE was a winner against easier two starts back and won that race on the lead.  The rail is exactly where I want this horse to be and with not a lot of speed to his outside he should be able to clear, not a lot of horses pass him.  #5 BETTING EXCHANGE knows how to win, but hasn’t done so in quite a while.  He has a big ability to pass horses late which is what makes him extremely dangerous.  Bartlett gets along well with this horse.

Race 9: #6 ODDS ON DELRAY gets a tough draw this week, but he has a good amount of early speed that some of the horse’s to his inside just don’t possess.  Normally when he gets to the top he doesn’t get passed and that is something I like to see in a horse.

Race 10: #1 BORDER CONTROL A has won two straight for trainer Ron Burke and will try the small track this week.  He has a good amount of early speed and is one I would not ignore off the rail here.  #3 OURLITTLEGNERAL A adds Lasix for the second time tonight and showed that he could compete at the top level last week over a sloppy track.  If the track is favorable tonight then he could have a big shot from post three.
