Delvin Miller Adios picks – Grand Circuit $1 Million Challenge

The Delvin Miller Adios Pace for the Orchids Presented by Coors Light at The Meadows this Saturday continues your hunt in the Grand Circuit $1 Million Challenge and we’ve assembled a crackerjack group of experts to help you as you make your pick in the contest.

Reminder: If you haven’t picked a horse that doesn’t win in the first two races, you can still be eligible for the 2nd Prize of $10,000 so keep voting!

2 – MCWICKED: Simply seems more talented than these, and may be as talented as any 3YO nationally. Newly-inducted Hall of Fame driver David Miller should let the early positioning resolve itself while staying up close, and then make one move to the lead that he will not surrender the rest of the way home.

5 – SOMEWHERE IN L A: Had an equipment change last time — a pulldown blind bridle — and his driver Brett Miller (David’s cousin) said, “When I pulled the bridle, he just exploded.” Has always hinted at potential, and now may be able to maximize it. May be only the fourth or fifth choice in the race — value!

3 – AT PRESS TIME: Second behind McWicked at Pocono and in his Adios elimination. With his good early speed and good post, driver Matt Kakaley will try to get him as well-placed as he can before the inevitable McWicked move comes — as he did in the two races mentioned.

7 – LET’S DRINK ON IT: Very talented colt, but post and style are the question marks: He hasn’t shown great early speed recently, and from this post he’d need top racing luck to work out a winning trip, no matter which way 21YO sensation Tyler Smith drives him.

NOTE: If you bet the race, DON’T box! MCWICKED should win, so don’t waste tickets with him second or third. Best play may be 2 / 3-5-7 / 3-5-7, and maybe throw in CAMMIKEY (1) underneath.

2 – MCWICKED – I wish I could find some value on the ticket, but I think you are going to need to look to the exotics in this one. On paper, it appears to be Mcwicked’s race. He was dominant in his elimination, showing no ill effects of a three-week layoff. Post position 2 certainly won’t hurt his cause, so he is going to enter the race as a heavy favorite and I can’t pick against him.

6 – STEVENSVILLE – Here’s where you could find some value. This horse was dead last at the top of the stretch against Mcwicked a week ago, worked his way to the far outside and flew home. He shows a 26.4 final quarter clocking, but his route wasn’t along the inside. Had he been able to stay on the inside around the turn, he may have paced his last quarter in 26 flat.

5 – SOMEWHERE IN LA – Very impressive in his elimination, scoring a mild upset at 3-1. He was the only entrant from the powerful Jimmy Takter barn, which sent out last year’s Adios champion. I don’t think he’s going to challenge early, but he will likely be lurking late, hoping for a speed battle between Let’s Drink On It and Mcwicked.

2- MCWICKED: I have liked McWicked as the best 3 year old before The North American Cup and nothing has changed my mind. With Post 2 David Miller can do what he sees fit to win The Adios.

7- LET’S DRINK ON IT: probably has the best shot of the Upset with the youngest driver ever in The Adios Tyler Smith. The horse can leave like he did last week but is the best from off the pace.

5- SOMEWHERE IN LA: would give Takter back to back Adios Trophies. This one is a bit unknown as he has been with Takter for just a few months. Somewhere In L A took a lifetime mark in the 1st Division last week of 1:50. The fastest but the track was getting sloppy over the next divisions. Brett Miller will drive.

The upset horse is 8- BUSHWACKER and Dave Palone who was coming home late last week to get a 2nd place finish in his division.
