USTA Play of the Day

by Michael Carter

The Meadows Racetrack and Casino Race 10 (Pick 5)
Date: 9/11/2018  Carryover: $0  Guarantee: $5,000

Ticket: 4,8,9/8,9/6,7/1,5/10 Cost: $12.00 ($.50 base)

Yesterday’s Recap – We went three-for-five in a Pick 5 at Yonkers that turned out to be pretty true to form.  There was not a whole lot of surprises and a couple of the short-priced favorites that I was not a fan of got into the winner’s circle.  The official Pick 5 of 1/2/5/2,7/3,4 returned $124.50

Breakdown:

Race 10: #4 LADY DUDETTE has hit the board in five of her last six and has two wins in those starts.  She gets a good draw this week and has enough tactical speed to show up against this group this afternoon.  #8 J P SILVER was a game winner last week and has been doing well at the fairs.  This week Burke adds Palone to the mix hoping to continue the success.  #9 WHERE’S MY PEBBLE hasn’t won since a two-race winning streak at The Meadows beginning on July 24.  She gets a tough draw tonight but is a hard-charging closer who shouldn’t be ignored.

Race 11: #8 UBER DOOBER DO has won two straight one from the inside and coming off the pace, the other from the outside where he went to the lead and never looked back.  If he can stay flat he is dangerous with the jump in class.  #9 DRIFT AWAY gets Palone back in the sulky this week and is looking to improve off two very difficult efforts.

Race 12: #6 BLURRED LINE has had a rough go of things as of late since making that break on July 31.  She gets a good draw this week and likes to come from off the pace, but she is more successful when she is close to the pace early.  #7 VERY LOUDLY was aggressively driven last week by Palone and it played to her favor.  I have to think Merriman will work out the same kind of trip with her today with not a lot of speed to the inside.

Race 13: #1 SELKA SONG adds Lasix for the first time this week and that is a pretty big wagering angle of mine.  Driver change back to Pantaleano with the rail makes her a contender this week.  #5 TEDDY BROSEVELT has not missed the board in his last six starts and he has raced from just about every post and handled it extremely well.  He gets a good draw today and the success should continue.

Race 14: #10 NURSE PIE Q has won two straight since getting Goodell in the bike and switching to the smaller 5/8 track.  She gets the second tier tonight which normally would worry me, but her last start where she laid off the pace and charged home makes me think she is valid here.
