Yonkers Raceway Race 7 (Pick 5)
Date: 7/23/2018  Carryover: $1,090.70  Guarantee: $10,000

Ticket: 2,3,4/1,4,5/4,6/3/1,2,3,6 – Cost: $36.00 (.50 base)

Yesterday’s Recap – We broke our maiden at Running Aces yesterday after an exciting, but chalky sequence.  We went all in the second leg and the favorite drew off to win easily after an early speed duel.  Nine Ways was the price of the sequence scoring in 1:51.1 and paying a healthy $11.40.  The Pick 4 of 6/4/5/1 returned $58.55.

Breakdown:

Race 7: #2 MEALNIE’S FILLY has a good amount of speed and has been racing extremely well at Yonkers Raceway.  She dropped back down last week and had a tough go of things, getting passed in the stretch.  Look for her to be on the lead again this week.  #3 FOOLISH HEART closed gamely from off the pace last week and just missed, getting passed in the end.  She gets a good draw again this week and could strike at a price.  #4 KEYSTONE NIKKI has had a rough go of things as of late with a couple of tough draws.  Drops in class and should show up with a better trip.

Race 8: #1 SOFER takes a big jump in class this week to face some tough company at Yonkers.  He has been racing well at Saratoga for trainer Richard Silverman and that should continue here from the rail.  #4 NOX VEGAS BLUECHIP just narrowly missed last week, with a big strong closing kick in the end.  He is not the speediest horse, but he will be on the scene late and could strike.  #5 A FARMBOYS SUCCESS showed speed last week and he really seemed like he enjoyed being on the lead.  He gets an interesting draw but has shown the ability to get to the top from here.

Race 9: #4 HIGHVIEW CONALL N has hit the board in four of his last six starts and all of them were coming from off the pace except for the winning effort on May 22.  Look for him to be close to the pace or setting the pace this week.  #6 SUMMER SIDE was a very good three-year-old winning three of sixteen starts and just over $150,000.  Post six may be a little tough, but this is another horse that likes to be forwardly placed.  Look for him to be on the pace early.

Race 10: #3 GILLYS BOY got a tough trip making a break just before the quart last week and he never came back from that.  He is a very speedy gelding who likes to be on the lead if he can avoid any costly errors he will be the one to beat.

Race 11: #1 CHUMLEE A was a game winner last week after getting stung to the first quarter.  He finished strong and drew off, in the end, winning easily.  Looking for another big effort from the rail.  #2 OH JONNY B GOOD N took the lead then had to sit the pocket towards the half after being passed.  He fought on strongly in the stretch to get up by a neck, his heart gives him a big chance here.  #3 BRAVE WORLD is in a race with a lot of early speed. He comes back to Yonkers where he has had a little bit of success.  Look for a game effort with Brian Sears returning to the bike.  #6 MIDWAY ISLAND got a tough trip against this group from post seven last week.  Tonight he draws a little tough again but could rebound off of that effort.
