Yesterday’s Recap – We had a rough go of things on Saturday in the high-five at Northfield as we weren’t very close at all.

Breakdown:

Race 2: #2 HENPECKED closed a little in the stretch last week, but just couldn’t get there after a sluggish start.  Look for a better effort this week, she also receives a driver change to Irvine Jr.  #5 BUDDY HALLY is a horse I have fancied for quite some time, but he hasn’t been able to produce as of late.  He gets a driver change to Aaron Merriman, look for improvement.

Race 3: #5 INSTANT THRILL is coming off a game victory where he had to fight a game horse in The Rock last out.  This week he doesn’t have to deal with that pressure, but he is in against some tough company.  #6 MODERN GESTURE gets a tough draw again this week and will have to improve off of last weeks effort to have a shot here.  I expect him to be forwardly placed.  #8 OWEN HANOVER gets the dreaded eight hole and while that is a little bit of a concern, the trainer change following the claim is a big one.

Race 4: #4 ELF HANOVER scored a game victory last week after leading, then having to fight on in the stretch.  He draws well again this week and should perform to par.  #5 HEADSAREGONNA TURN closed last week but didn’t make a whole lot of ground up.  He gets along well with Lems and second time against this class should be better.  #7 EYES COOL has made two breaks in his last four starts, but when he stays flat, he tends to race well.  If he can stay behaved he has a big chance.  #8 PALMERS PRIDE is going to be a big price from post eight, but last weeks effort can’t be ignored.  That was a monster mile against this class, expect another big effort.

Race 5: #2 FRATERNITY has won four of his last five starts from just about everywhere.  This is a very versatile gelding who is really coming into form.  I look for another big trip from the inside.  #6 ROCK N TONY has liked Northfield before and has raced against some of the top Grand Circuit company.  He gets a tough draw this week but is coming off a game effort where he was closing in the end.  If he can get a little better of a trip, he could show up tonight.  #9 ROCK ON CREEK did not finish after being impeded last week and making a break.  Obviously will expect more tonight.

Race 6: #1 ROMPAWAY GALAXY draws the rail against this week following a game-winning effort The rail draw definitely helps again, he will need to avoid a pace duel up front.  #2 PAY THE WINNER gets Wrenn back in the bike this week who has had some success with this gelding.  He has some speed to contend with and should control the pace up front.
