Yesterday’s Recap – We went three-for-five in a highly competitive sequence on Saturday night at the Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono. While we didn’t have any of the major prices, it was nice to be able to hit those three legs. The Pick 5 of 2/4/1/5/3 returned $737.10.
Breakdown:
Race 11: #8 SOUTHWIND AMAZON is the speed of the race, but he has shown ability before to come from off the pace. Last week he got stung to some hot fractions and just tired towards the end. Expect another big effort.
Race 12: #1 MEGO MOSS gets Wrenn back in the bike tonight following a strong second-place effort from post nine last out. He gets some much-needed post relief and should be able to rate against these. #2 EYES COOL has won two of his last three starts and the race he didn’t win, he made a break. He gets a good draw and should show speed from here with Lems in the bike. #3 RAY HALL could be a value play in the Pick 4 with Ryan Stahl in the bike. He has been known to show speed before and the class drop should be the deciding factor here. #7 NORTHMEDO MISSION has won three straight races and could potentially be the overwhelming favorite at Post Time. He gets a tough draw tonight, but after last week’s effort, I’m not sure that matters. #9 DARK ROAST is another value play that I like from the second tier. She never really got a chance off the class drop last week. Give another chance.
Race 13: #1 YOLO HANOVER draws the rail this week following a decent effort against this class last out. He gets a big driver change to Ronnie Wrenn Jr tonight which could also play to his hand. #4 THE POKESTER had to make up a lot of ground last week and was charging through the lane and just could not get there. I am hoping that he will be in a little bit better of a position this week to allow him to get into the race sooner.
Race 14: #2 BARNABAS has not been lucky with the post draw at The Meadows, he comes to Northfield tonight with a little bit of class relief and some post improvement. He has a little bit of speed and should be able to control the fractions. #3 OCTANE BLUE CHIP isn’t the speediest gelding off of the car, but he is one that can come from off the pace. He has a big closing kick, throw last week’s start out from the eight hole, where he never got going.
