Strong in Ohio history, Noble Cam, a 1999 gelding sired by Nobleland Sam, is embarking on his next chapter as a riding horse at New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program.

Born at Fair Winds Farm, Noble Cam grew up training with Dave Stratton and being groomed by his son, Jordan Stratton. “Dad taught us right,” Stratton said, also to referring to his younger brother Cory. “We did all the things  kids would do around the barns like mucking stalls and hot-walking horses and we learned how to take care of a horse before we even were allowed to jog. But I believe all that formative stuff makes a great foundation for any horseman.”  In 2003, he was named Aged Pacer of the Year by the Ohio Harness Horseman’s Association, as well as winning two Ohio Sires Stakes as a two and three year old.

Jordan credits Cam for giving him “one of his most memorable moments” in 2006 at Monticelllo Raceway, when the pair teamed up for a big amateur event win in the young driver’s career. “This horse set a track record for two year old pacers at Northfield, won the prestigious Four Leaf Clover Series at the Meadowlands and won the Scarlet & Gray for aged pacers so to say he was deserving was an understatement” says Nemeth of New Vocations.

In 2009 the racing star retired to stand at stud in New York at Upper Rooms Farm, but in 2014 was looking to move on to a new career. The Stratton’s contacted Jim and Jodie Doherty in 2014 to see if they had any interest in Noble Cam and helping him transition to a riding horse. “His personality, soundness and looks made me think he would be a good fit for New Vocations because he could easily mold into almost anything” says Jodie Doherty.

“I love the opportunity to help these war horses and getting the call that Noble Cam needed our assistance was something I was happy to do” shares Nemeth. After a remarkable racing career winning $505,021 with 32 wins and 127 starts, Noble Cam is well deserving of some time off & a new loving family.
