For the past 90 years, Hanover Shoe Farms has been producing trotting and pacing champions in southeastern Pennsylvania. Located in what Hanover President Jim Simpson calls “that big open space between Hanover and Littlestown,” the farm is home to almost 1,000 horses and employs 90 people during the breeding season. This group has contributed to the farm’s status as being the leading horse breeder–of any breed–by race earnings since breeding records were kept. Hoof Beats visited the farm and brings you one busy day of this massive operation in this four-part series.
