Dan Patch Festival Weekend Coming Up

Hoosier Park Racing & Casino is set to celebrate Indiana’s signature harness racing event, the 24th edition of the $300,000 Dan Patch Stakes, with a weekend festival on Friday (Aug. 11) and Saturday (Aug. 12).

Festival activities will include contests and giveaways, premier exotic wagering, a summer family cookout, and an outdoor concert with American-rocker Ted Nugent.

The $300,000 Dan Patch stakes will take place on Friday (Aug. 11) and is set to be the 11th race on the card with the first race starting at 6:30 p.m. The night will feature a summer family cookout with BBQ, Indiana sweet corn, fresh tomatoes, and more.

The first 2,000 guests to visit trackside Club Centaur starting at 10 a.m. on Aug. 11 will receive a souvenir Dan Patch t-shirt and the first 500 Club Centaur members to stop in Trackside beginning at 4:30 p.m. will receive a mystery race voucher worth up to $1,000. Guests also have a chance to win a $500 Dan Patch Stakes mega bet, watch a live podcast of Post Time with Mike & Mike, and enjoy $2 Dan Patch Wit drafts by Flat12 Bierwerks.

Premier exotic wagering will also be available on Aug. 11 to complement the Dan Patch Stakes, including a $20,000 guaranteed superfecta and a $15,000 guaranteed Hoosier High Five. Race fans also have an opportunity to watch a live broadcast of the Dan Patch Stakes starting at 9 p.m. on WISH-TV Channel 8 Indianapolis.

Festivities on Saturday (Aug. 12) will kickoff with a special racing first post time of 4:30 p.m. and a summer family cookout featuring BBQ, Indiana sweet corn, fresh tomatoes, and more. Interactive games, contests, giveaways, and more will be available for fans of all ages.

Culminating the weekend on Aug. 12 will be an outdoor concert by hard-rock veteran Ted Nugent at 9 p.m. Nugent, a part of Hoosier Park’s Sounds of Summer outdoor concert series presented by Bud Light, is known for hits like Cat Scratch Fever and Stranglehold. Tickets are still available and can be purchased through Ticketmaster, or at Shelby’s Gifts located at Hoosier Park in Anderson or Indiana Grand Racing & Casino in Shelbyville.

One of the most anticipated days on the live racing calendar, the Dan Patch Stakes was established at Hoosier Park in 1994 and has become a tradition that highlights some of the best athletes in the sport of harness racing.
