Selection Stats: 8/20 – $52.40 (+$12.40)

Best Bet – (4) BEST DREAM SEEKER – Race 2 (1/1 +$1.60)
Spot Play – (6) CRUSIN FOR YOU – Race 9 (0/2 -$4.00)
.20-cent Pick-5 (R1) – 2,3,6/4/1,2,4/1,2,6/3,6,7,8,9 – $27.00 (1/2 +$55.24)
.20-cent Pick-4 (R7) $50,000 Guaranteed Pool – 7,8/1,2,7/1,6/1,2,8,9 – $9.60 (0/2 -$13.20)

Race 1 – (6) LUKES COWBOY has been racing against the $4,000 claimers of late and having a little bit of trouble.  Tonight, he steps back in class with Roland back in the bike.  He has an opportunity to improve here.  (2) GUNNY WILSON moves up in class after racing against the lower level conditioned company the last few starts.  Key driver change here to Luke Plano as Roberts chooses off.  (3) URINGOODHANDS has struggled some with the post draw, he is a speedy gelding who will most likely be forwardly placed.

Race 2 – (4) BETST DREAM SEEKER is my best bet of the night having won four of his last six starts.  He can race from just about anywhere and that is a major feather in his cap.  (6) AL’S BRIEFS is a consistent gelding who has gotten used to racing well from the outside.  The only concern is where will he wind up when the gait closes, there is a lot of speed in the race which leaves him vulnerable to getting parked.  (1) WHO DAT LOVE steps up in class after winning three of his last four starts.  His speed could carry him from the inside.

Race 3 – First-up was not the place to be on Friday night and (1) NIGHTGIRL was able to get to the top, before tiring through the stretch.  The inside draw gives her a tactical advantage tonight with Svendsen back in the bike.  (4) BROOKLYN MOONSHINE is a consistent mare who likes to be forwardly placed.  She has the ability to pounce off a perfect trip.  (2) SAND AND ROCKS has struggled some with the draw of late but seems to be getting better after being injured in late February.

Race 4 – (2) GORGEOUS FOR REAL is a very interesting horse that has the ability to improve with a key driver change to Luke Plano.  He is a strong closer who, off the right trip, should be able to get to the leaders.  (1) MARCED MAGIC went to the front last out and never looked back.  The step-up in class is a little bit of a concern, I would not leave him off the ticket.  (6) CONTEMPORARY LEGEND was a winner from post seven last out against the easier company.  This is one of the more consistent horses in the field and he should be able to race well against tougher.

Race 5 – This is a very key race in the Pick-5, being the toughest race on the program.  (7) GORDY AGAIN picked up Svendsen two starts back and really improved from the rail.  The draw is a little tough for her this week, but I see continued improvement from her.  (8) LA DIVA DE ROSA has been no worse than fifth in her last five starts.  She is a deep closer who could make a statement turning for home.  With there not being speed in the race, I have to think that (9) MARILYN will have to leave from the outside and see where she winds up.  She has a big heart and has raced well against this class before.

Race 6 – (8) BUDGIE SMUGGLER has won two straight since adding Roland on March 21.  He is a gelding that likes to be forwardly placed, it will be interesting to see where Roland puts him early.  (5) CUT A RUG makes his third start off the layoff for trainer Quentin Schneider.  His race last week was a lot better than the line shows.  Look for him to be solid this week.  (9) FRED AND ROZ made a break and still managed to come back throughout the mile.  If he behaves, he is dangerous underneath.

Race 7 – (7) ALWAYSALITTLEMORE is the speed of the race, and also a very consistent mare.  Throw the start last week out as a fluke, I see her bouncing back against a tough group of mares.  (8) BERTHA VANATION has only missed the board three times in 2020, facing some tough company.  She is versatile and has the ability to race from anywhere, I like her chances.  (5) DANCINGONTHESAND is an interesting mare who can pass horses, close, be on the lead, work from just about anywhere.  Don’t pass up on her underneath, especially at a price.

Race 8 –  (2) VICIOUS ALOICIOUS was Roland’s choice this week over (5) WET SHARK.  He drops in class again tonight and should be able to pop from the inside.  I see him being on the lead and controlling the pace.  (7) HI HO’S LITTLE REV raced well off a pocket trip on Friday night, almost getting to the leader late.  I think Svendsen has to push the pace a little bit from the outside to get him into the race.  (1) BURNTISLAND BILLY takes a step back and should improve with the rail draw.

Race 9 – (6) CRUSIN FOR YOU is my spot play of the night after winning as my top pick on Saturday night.  I was really impressed with his ability that night after going to the lead and somehow finding a way through late in the mile.  He has talent.  (1) SENGA NITRO stepped back to this class last week and raced well.  He does better when close to the pace and could be good from the inside.  (3) HE GRINS AGAIN has not missed the board since changing drivers back to John Roberts, while he won’t be a long price, he is a must use underneath.

Race 10 – (8) DONTCLOSEYOUREYES has won four of her last six starts, two with John Roberts in the sulky.  The outside draw doesn’t bother her, her speed should be able to carry her to the lead early and ration out the fractions.  (2) GREEKONA is a nice mare with a lot of ability and heart.  She draws well against a tough field, the price will be right for her tonight.  (9) VELOCITY LAYLA drops in class this week, the post is a slight concern, but she should improve here.
